I enjoy working closely with Afanti Camera Supervisor, Richard Fisher and our highly experienced Senior Vision Engineer, John Elias, to come up with highly innovative and cost-effective camera solutions to match my ambitious scripting. Whilst I would love a techno crane or an agito dolly, often budgets will not allow it. To date we have developed:
Steadicam
Our very own radio steadicam with zero latency using an FX6 body, with pictures matching perfectly to the system cameras.
Sky Cam
This overhead rig with safety features gives a bird’s eye view to any sporting top shot where a jib just can’t get in. The operator is floor based with a virtual tripod and monitor.
Tracking Minicams
I just love these solutions, not just because they don’t need a tea break or overtime(!) but because they give you that high production value tracking shot on chat show wides, festival stage wides, drum and keyboard positions and in amongst strings in an orchestra. Their footprint is very small and discreet. These systems can go vertically and horizontally and are the work of John Elias, Paravision.
Post Production
Afanti Facilities also has extensive post production facilities including Da Vinci grade and a high end audio mixing suite. Most of our edits can also be operated remotely.
